Case study - Pump station refurbishment
A growing number of our clients are calling on our services to undertake pump station refurbishments. Some of the early pump systems are mechanical monoliths and a liability. With our decades of experience, we can re-engineer the existing chambers to accommodate modern controls and submersible pumps.
One such refurbishment was for a renowned Health Spa in Hampshire. Due to expansion, they wished to increase the load on an aging pump system but it was already in a poor state of repair and simply not up to the planned new loading.
On investigation the existing chamber already contained a stepped base appropriate for submersible pumps. We cut two new manholes in the roof of the chamber. Two new submersible macerators were installed and neatly piped into the existing outflow. With the associated modern controls, the pump station can be maintained in the normal manner and should give decades of service.
